Yes, the govt. and FEMA didn't respond appropriately at all. Many lives were lost. FEMA is who I am particularly steemed with, with their unorganized, mis-managed, sluggish reaction to initally evacuate people and then to help individuals that were stranded, either in their homes or at the Superdome. Absolute monstrosities manifested at the awake of primal instincts. People needed help right then and there, which unfortunately they didn't receive. The first Fema director who originally was in charge of handling affairs related to the Katrina disaster was focusing his attention on his appearance on T.V. when answering questions regardingwhat actions that were taking place(or should we say lack there of) to help people. In an email that surfaced in the media shortly after his replacement, he stated that he was nervous about the way he looked on t.v. and the person he was conversing with commented on his shirt. To quote the man "I got it at Neiman Marcus, don't you love it?". Obvisiously, his concerns were terribly in the wrong place. Frankly, I believe that neither one of these rappers who are spoken of in this blog are one to speak. Both of them have incredible amounts of money and I am not sure if they gave to charities to aid in funding the REAL victims of hurricane Katrina. Juvenile lost a home- okay but I'm almost certain that he has at least 2 others, so how can he even talk when people have lost their whole life, their families, loves ones. One thing about celebrities that pisses me off is that they tend to be soo isolated because of their fame- they are so out of touch with reality. For example, one of the people I hate the most in the world- Paris Hilton. She is soo stuck on herself and concerned with what $900 pair of shoes she will be buying today. Honestly, with just the cost of one pair of shoes she owns it could feed hundreds of people in this country affected by natural disasters, or even other countries that have thousands of starving people,and people who are dying due to infections that could be treated and prevented with a low cost medicine,it just makes me sick!
Now that people are going back to what used to be their homes, it has to be understood that reconstruction is a long, time consuming, gradual process. The people who lived on the hardest hit areas my suggestion is to attempt to start over in a different location. It will be extremely hard and heartbreaking to relocate and start to pick up the pieces of your lives but my prayers and wishes are with you all. May you have the courage and tenacity to rise again after the storm. God Bless!
