Haitian Children in Question Are Aged 2 Months to 12 Years

Haiti's Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive has been up in arms, speaking out about the group of Americans who tried to bring 33 Haitian children back home with them as orphans though they were not actually orphans

10 members of an American church group have been detained by Haitian authorities for allegedly attempting to take 33 children out of the country. The kids, aged 2 months to 12 years, were allegedly taken without proper verification of their identity and status so that many of them were not actually orphans and still had family they could be with in Haiti. A member of the church group explained that "God wanted us to come here to help children; we are convinced of that, Our hearts were in the right place."

Haiti's Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive at first called the American church group "kidnappers" who "knew what they were doing was wrong," but later conceded the group of Americans may have just been misguided and did mean well, though their actions went wrong in the end.
