Weaving as Captain America?


Up until now there had been widespread reports that John Krascisnki (or however you spell it) from the Office was going to play Captain America.

But now the latest scoop on the upcoming movie adaptation of the Marvel Comics hero indicates that he may not get the role, and somewhat more impressive actor may take the role of Red Skull, Hugo Weaving.

Weaving is already an action movie veteran having starred in both Lord of the Rings and the Matrix, ad as Agent Smith he was quite devilish.

It would be a bit of an adjustment to play this sort of villain, but Weaving seems more than up to it. I hope they take the movie this way.

Hugh Weaving is in talks to terrorize "Captain America," according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog. The actor, who previously showcased his evildoer chops as Agent Smith in "The Matrix" franchise, is reportedly in negotiations for the role of the Red Skull - a Nazi agent who first appeared in "Captain America Comics" No. 1 back in 1941. Like Captain America's Steve Rogers, the World War II character was put into suspended animation and revived in modern day during Marvel's 1960s comics While its villain may be close to final casting, the Joe Johnston-directed film has yet to announce who will play its titular hero...
