Petraeus Faint (VIDEO)

A scare for one of ori most important generals yesterday, as General Petraeus appeared to faint at a public event, before being helped by colleagues and recovering.

The fainting episode occured while he was testifying in front of the US Senate, and was being questioned by John McCain. He seemed out of it and actually slumped over in his seat, until his staff ran over to help him, and he soon left the room to get checked out by a doctor. It was explained afterward that he was simply dehydrated and needed no further medical attention. He returned to the hearing after about half and hour and continued his testimony.

Gen. David H. Petraeus, the top American commander in the Mideast, seemed to faint while he was testifying on Tuesday in front of the Senate. While he was questioned by Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.), Petraeus slumped and looked dazed, and aides rushed to his side. A few seconds later, he sat upright again, then left the room on his own power. After he was examined by a doctor and eating some food, Petraeus returned back to the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing room 20 minutes later, smiling, to a standing ovation. A spokesman said Petraeus, 57, was dehydrated and became light-headed. He had been traveling recently and was jet-lagged, the spokesman said.
