Laura Linney "The Big C"

Top actress Laura Linney is known for her dramatic film turns, but now she's stepping into a new role in "The Big C," a small-screen drama about living with cancer,

Linney will play a wife and mother who is diagnosed with cancer, and sees her life torn apart by the treatment required to keep her alive, and the medical care that turns her world upside down. The Showtime drama will co-star Oliver Platt, another great actor in his own right though he has been more often seen in comedies recently.

Showtime has given a series order to three-time Emmy winner Laura Linney's project "The Big C."
