Transgender Commerce Appointee (PHOTO)

The Obama administration recently made history once again, making Amanda Simpson one of the first transgender appointees to the Federal Government.

Simpson was hired as a Senior Technical Advisor for the Commerce Department, and though representatives said they couldnot say for sure she is the very first transgender appointee, all agree that she is one of the first and it is a big step forward. Simpson herself said in a statement: "as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others."

Amanda has a strong background in business administration, aerospace and national defense, and has been a pilot and flight instructor for many years. See below for a photo and more info on the historic appointment.
