Chris Kanyon Dies, Suicide

Yet another sad story from the world of professional wrestling, as former WWE and WCW star Kanyon has been found dead, reportedly after committing suicide.

Kanyon, whose real name was Klucsaritis, was 40 years old at the time of his death. He had been a big name wrestler for several years, but was released from the big leagues in the mid 90s, and soon after came out as gay. There is no indication as to whether the struggle with being gau in that spotlight led to depression or was a cause of his trobules, but one must imagine it must have been difficult to hide that secret under those circumstances.

Pro wrestling has had so many tragic, early deaths it's getting hard to count. I used to watch pretty often and have a lot of respect for these athletes (it's not a sport but the performers are athletes!), but at these point you have to ask serious questions about this culture and industry. Either way, RIP to Chris Kanyon and condolences to his loved ones.

He first announced that his "Chris Kanyon" character was gay to stir up publicity, and then later announced he was also personally gay...
