Kanye West, Paul Wall, GLC & T.I. - "Drive Slow (Remix)" Video
lyrics

[Kanye West]
My homie Mali used to stay, 79th and May
One of my best friends from back in the day
Down the street from Calumet, a school full of stones
He nicknamed me K-Rock so they'll leave me alone
Bulls jacket with his hat broke way off
And walked around the mall with his radio face off
Plus he had the spinner from his Daytons in his hand, keys in his hand
Reason again to let you know he's the man
Back when we rocked Alieses, he had dreams of Caprices
Drove by the teachers, even more by polices
How he get the cash the day his father passed away
Left him with a lil somethin, 16 he was stuntin'
"Al B. Sure" nigga with the hair all wavy
Hit Lakeshore, girls go all crazy
Hit the freeway, go at least bout 80
Boned so much that summer, even had him a baby
See back back then then if you had a car
You was the Chi-Town version of Baby
And I was just a virgin, a baby
One of the reasons I looked up to him crazy
I used to love play my demo tape when the system yanked
Felt like I was almost signed when the shit got cranked
We'll take a Saturday and just circle the mall
They had they Lincoln's and Aurora's, we was hurtin 'em all
With the girls alot of flirtin' involved but dog..
Fuck all that flirtin', I'm tryin' to get in some drawers, so
Put me on with these hoes homie
He told me, "Don't rush to get grown, drive slow homie"

[Chorus: Kanye West]
Drive slow, homie
(Drive slow)
You never know, homie
About these hoes homie
You need to pump your brakes and drive slow, homie

[Verse 2: Paul Wall]
What it do?
I'm posted up in the parking lot, my trunk wavin
The candy gloss is immaculate, its simply amazing
Them elbows pokin wide on that candy 'Lac
Trunk open, screens on, neon's lit with 5th relaxed
I'm on a mission for dime pieces and sexy ladies
Allow me to introduce you to my CL Mercedes
It's a star-studded event when I valet park
Open up my mouth and sunlight illuminates the dark
You see them 4's crawlin, you see them screens fallin
The disco ball in my mouth insinuates I'm ballin'
I'm leanin on the switch, sittin crooked in my slab
But I could still catches boppers if I drove a cab
A young Houston hard-hitter all about the scrilla
Ridin' somethin' candy-coated crawlin' like a caterpillar
I'm tippin' on them 4's, I'm jammin' on that Screw
I'm lookin' for them hoes baby, what it do

[Chorus: Kanye West] (GLC)
Drive slow, homie
(Turn your hazard lights on when you see them hoes)
Drive slow, homie
(If you ridin' around the city with nowhere to go)
Drive slow, homie
(Live today, cause tomorrow man, you never know)
You never know, homie
Might meet some hoes, homie
You need to pump your brakes and drive slow, homie

[Kanye West]
My car's like the movie, my car's like the crib
I got mo TV's in here than where I live

[GLC]
And that don't make no sense, but baby I'm the shit
And everything I flip, you know it's somethin serious
I got the custom grill, I got the Bravis rims
I got the baller genetics baby this evidence
You see a player flickin', and how you ain't convinced
That you should go on and kiss it, just a lil bit (just a lil bit)
I wearin my custom kicks, I got my Jesus chain
My canary's is gleamin', through my angel wings
They see me, hoes actin' like they seen a king
With that mean lean, smokin on that finest Cali green
My woodgrain oak, I'm ridin on Vogues
My cylinder quiet, like tip-toes
I sold O's, and this I know
When you see them hoes, lil homie drive slow *echoes*

(Tony Williams harmony ad-libs)

[T.I.]
Lookin' at the life through my rearview, all the problems I had
Could be seen alot clearer after time had passed
Known for livin' so fast, they wonder how he don't crash
With 220 on the dash, he constantly mashin'
(Why don't he slow down?) They be constantly askin'
But me in the fast lane is like metal and magnets
Now I ain't tryna say that it's the way of the masses
But it, so hard to change, I love this shit with a passion
Since me and Sigel cuttin' classes, showin' our ass
Shootin' out in broad day in the middle of traffic
I remember sellin' crack faster than I could bag it
A shame I ain't playin' with you shorty, I ain't braggin'
Me and Cap got life, some other folk got blasted
Had a partner OD'd and after this all happened
It's like the only thing that kept a pimp from cryin' and laughin'
And the Lord smiled on me at the end of the madness
I never thought that I'd make it this far rappin'
For introducin' the youth to what we now call trappin'
Considered now a classic, who'da imagined?
Me in Milano, gettin' models in next year's fashions
So nowadays, they can call me old fashioned
But it's way too much cash to see blue lights flashin'
So I guess the moral of this here class is
Life about who make it now not about who make it the fastest

Drive slow homie
Dri, uh dri slowly

i can't remember i the last time i saw such a generic video.

Posted by: Vilens at May 25, 2006 5:01 PM

Yo!! THIS VIDEO IS HOT. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS HOT BECAUSE IT REALLY COMPLIMENTS THE LYRICS FROM EACH ARTIST. KANYE PICKED SOME REALLY GOOD RAPPERS, ESPECIALLY T.I. HIS VOICE SOUNDS REALY AT EASE, DEEP, AND SEDUCTIVE ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Its a Generic video but real. It can possibly be nominated for BEST VIDEO. Best for the Month or Year--I dont know.

Posted by: Yas at May 27, 2006 11:36 AM

I thought this song was great and the video a bit generic but because of the realness of the lyrics it really hit home. I loved it!

Posted by: Erica at May 29, 2006 8:01 PM

Dis video iz hot!!! and yes aspecially b/c of T.I.! Yall right bout his voice, it really compliments the beat. Kanye did pick a good group of artists to feature on dis song. I neva really cared too much for Kanye's songs, but dis one's a killa! Congradulations Kanye, I really it boo!

Posted by: Tara at May 30, 2006 11:51 AM

Video to artsy fartsy for me. I wish he would of went to each rapper's hood. Chicago, Houston, A-town and showed the different styles of cars and culture in each town. I've seen Las Vegas to many times already. TI smashed it even doe the lyrics was wrong (Just sharing my past with you shorty I aint bragging TI-line 12).

Peace
A-Town forever

Posted by: paul wall at June 1, 2006 11:40 PM

Man, you all must be crazy. T.I. and Kanye killed it, they spit some deep verses comparing life to driving. All Paul Wall's pathetic ass comes up with is yet another song about how nice his car is...I was pretty disappointed with GLC on this one as well. The video was okay, not great, I agree with the shots from different hoods. Peace.

Posted by: Dead Justice at June 1, 2006 11:57 PM

Alright...i gotta ask everybody here who is bicthin about the "generic" video. Can u make a candy car in vegas look like that? Do have all the equipment even make a better video? that is my point. anyway enough of that i thought the song was realled layed back and T.I. has the best verse out of everybody. He raps so confindent and real. The video is real cool to sit back watch. The lyrcis is what makes it good. by the way MTV murdered the lyrics but cencoring everything. nice vid

Posted by: zach at June 3, 2006 1:17 PM

Posted by: LIL T at June 14, 2006 6:56 PM

Posted by: Vickz at June 16, 2006 12:01 PM

"Life's about who make it,
Not about who makin' it fastest"

That's the best line in the whole shit.

Posted by: the_soulkidd at June 16, 2006 2:17 PM

Lil T, it's the same sample from Pac's "Shorty Wanna
Be A Thug". It's on All Eyez On Me, Disc 2, track 2.

Posted by: the_soulkidd at June 16, 2006 2:21 PM

This shit is so real, nice beat, true lyrics, fuck the video, this the type of song you listen at night with the lights off too get some inspiration, for real!!!!!

Posted by: Horace at June 17, 2006 2:29 AM

This song was hot. I agree with some who say GLC didnt put it down. In my opinion TI handled it just as well as kanye. paul wall is on my shit list.

Posted by: One at June 18, 2006 5:06 AM

Those two lines are by far the best but this video was great in my opinion. The song IS about driving slow so why is everyone complaining about the cars? I thought the dark colors and laid back beat make this song sound great. Sounds even better if you have a good system.

And like someone said earlier....T.I's voice sounds badass with the music.

Life about who make it now
but about who make it the fastest

Live today, cause tomorrow man, you never know

Posted by: Blake at June 18, 2006 5:31 AM

T.I. made dis song stand out even more den it already had. I think it's guna be one those klassic songs compared to shit like "regulate" and "C.R.E.A.M". Kanye's best song in the album.

Posted by: Imzy at June 20, 2006 7:24 PM

yall all need to be sleep..lol drive slow...everybody feel a way about Ye but atleast they feel somethin

Posted by: tk at June 26, 2006 1:02 AM

i think t.i's contribution to drive slow did make it stand out all tho i'm wit ye al da way! i also think dat live today cuz tomorrow man, you never know is an inspirational verse.

Posted by: Lady T at June 26, 2006 12:27 PM

Too bad the video was gorgeous...bright lights, sexy car, and though TI's lyrics were SICK! Wall and Kanyevel were pretty hot as well. The whole thing was seductive. Word.

Posted by: LaLa at June 27, 2006 6:08 PM

hands down this song is hot...when i heard it was bananas, but on the real i feel that Kanye had the best flow i mean just the way he told the story was phenomenal, T.I. was alrite but it was kinda out of place, not the words just his voice stands out, but that could be cuz im used to hearin the cd version. Paul Wall didnt metaphor like the others but it still sounded good.

Posted by: Ant at June 27, 2006 11:23 PM

Song straight compared to all the bullshit that's out. Yo, the hip hop I grew up with is dead. All you got now are these sorry ass rappers talking about the same shit. Wake up aint stop digesting this shit these niggas feedin you all. Nas, Common, Gangstarr, PE, EPMD, etc...
that's hip hop

Posted by: A Sibley at June 29, 2006 7:35 PM

Man I love this song plus if you listen to the lyrics you'll hear the whole message...I think it's real laid back and something to nod to ~+*ARIELLE*+~

Isn't the beat for the regular version of "Drive Slow", the beat for "Shorty Wanna Be a Thug" by Tupac? Now that could also be taken from an older song, but those two tracks sound similar to me.

Posted by: eMTreXx at September 24, 2006 12:27 PM

Yeee, Kanye samples alot of his beats, so that was sampled from shorty wanna be a thug by pac
