California Divorce Ban! (VIDEO)

A group in California is now taking the "defense of marriage" movement out to the extreme, looking for a ban on getting divorced!

In what some believe is a publicity stunt designed to satirize the anti-gay arguments for "protecting marriage", this group is demanding that we protect the institution by straight-up outlawing divorce. After all, if marriage is sacred and must be protected at all costs, how can we allow people to just throw it away like that!

As the movement's organizer says: "Since California has decided to protect traditional marriage, I think it would be hypocritical of us not to sacrifice some of our own rights to protect traditional marriage even more..."

California activist John Marcotte wants to put a measure on the ballot next year to ban divorce in California. The effort is meant to be a satirical statement after California voters outlawed gay marriage in 2008, largely on the argument that a ban is needed to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage.
