Walter Cronkite Dies

One of the greatest of the greats, a true icon and cornerstone of a generation.. standard bearer for an era of network TV journalism that will probably never be matched again. Just as this new media landscape means there will never be another star as big as Michael Jackson, it also means there will never be a news anchor as important and influential as Walter Cronkite.

But where Michael's story became a bizarre tragedy, Cronkite was an example of grace and dignity throughout his 92 years, and always set a standard of integrity and professionalism as a host and journalist. He will be missed by all those who grew up with him, and those who didn't will never know what they missed. Take a minute to tell the truth today, in his honor.

As the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" from 1962 to 1981, Walter Cronkite set the standard for accuracy, fairness and dependability. He guided viewers through some of the most significant events of the 20th century, including the civil rights struggles in the South and man's first walk on the moon...
