Percentage Americans Smoke: Dropping


According to the CDC, the percentage of Americans who smoke has dropped to unprecedented lows recently, but is still far too high for the nation's overall good health.

Their latest reports place the percentage Americans smoke at about 20%, the lowest total ever so far. But this still places one in five Americans at risk of lung cancer, emphysema adn the many other ailments that come with smoking cigarettes..hopefully everyone will keep getting the message, bit by bit, so at least I can go out without coming home to find my clothes all smell like nasty cigarette smoke, because of you people!

The percentage of Americans who smoke cigarettes has fallen below 20% for the first time since at least the mid-1960s, according to a new report. The CDC says the prevalence of smoking fell in 2007 to 19.8%, nearly a full percentage point from 20.8% in 2006. "This is good news," Matthew McKenna, MD, MPH, director of the CDC's Office on Smoking and Health, tells WebMD. "But deaths related to cigarette smoking are still increasing.
