Comebacks at Australian Open (VIDEO)


As the Australian Open comes around this month, tennis fans are in for a treat as the top women's player in the world Serena Williams will face comebacks from her biggest rivals, including Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin.

The reunited posse of Russian and Belgian female players coming for Serena's throne also includes Dinara Safina, and although Serena cites her sister Venus as the biggest threat, she is sure to have a tough road to the finals with all these other excellent veteran tennis players re-entering the fray. It should without a doubt be an exciting Grand Slam event. Another Russian, Elena Dementieva, is also rising and could pose a threat. The mmost surprising comebacks of all though, are from the two Belgian tennis MVPs Clijsters and Henin. Will it be one of them who sees Serena in the final match? I can't wait to see.

There is always an element of mystery attached to the first grand slam of the year but the reappearance of the three former world number ones has ensured this year's tournament will be one of the most open in years. Serena Williams is the favourite and understandably so. She is the current world number one, the defending champion and one of the few players who thrive in the scorching Australian summer heat....
