Captain America: Krasinski? Phillippe?

Up until now word around Hollywood was that John Krasinski was in line to play Captain America.

But now another actor already a proven movie actor, says he is aiming for the part too: Ryan Phillippe!

Many have suggested John Krasinski, who is best known for playing the shaggy haired lovable goofball on The Office, might not really be the best actor for this action hero role.

Would Ryan Phillippe do better with it? He seems to think so, and says he is a longtime fan of the Marvel comic. I didn't know that comic had any fans.

I like Krasinski But i agree this part doesnt seeem ideal for him. I'd like to see Matt Damon, or maybe Will Smith? In this new age maybe it's time to switch things up a bit.. maybe even make it a woman! A captain doesn't have to be a man , after all. Angelina, you out there?

The pool of leading Hollywood men reportedly up for the role of Captain America -- a crew so diverse it has at one time included funnyman John Krasinski and action-flick vet Chris Evans -- has grown by one. MTV News has exclusively confirmed that Ryan Phillippe will audition for the part. During a conversation at the South by Southwest music and film festival on Monday (March 15), the 35-year-old Phillippe himself revealed that he's set to audition for what would be the lead role in "The First Avenger: Captain America..."
