A Corporate Beauty Contest?

Can you tell whether someone is CEO material by their looks? The answer might be yes according to a new study from Duke university.

The study doesn't show that people hwo look a certain way to a better job as CEOs, but it shows that they are PERCEIVED as better by their peers in the job market, so they go on to have career success even if they don't really do a better job than others.

Said one expert "Our results suggest that CEOs who look competent have higher pay, but their companies do not necessarily do better. People tend to rate such people as being more likable, more warm, more trustworthy, but less competent,"

The Duke University has released a study that is titled 'A Corporate Beauty Contest' in which they have extensively researched about the physical appearances of the CEO's of small and big companies and some non-CEO's as well. Their aim was to find the physical characteristics that take a person to the very top of his corporate ladder. And the results were startling to say the least. It is a common belief that hard work and perhaps some amount of luck would make you climb the corporate ladder, but the study of 2000 people revealed that looks also play a very important role in the corporate success of a person. According to the groundbreaking research, physical attributes like a solid jaw line and piercing eyes could take a person to the top post.
