Baby Slings Warning: Dangerous


Baby slings, a popular way for mothers to carry their babies, are now being questioned as the government suggests they may present a risk of smothering the babies the carry.

The safety warning being prepared by the government applies to a certain type of sling that puts the baby into a curved, "C-like" position, and it is said that this type of sling presents a risk of suffocation.

These slings, where the baby can fall into a chin-ti-chest position, are also considered risky by a nurse who teaches how to use slings properly, Tiffany Speck: "You wouldn't want to put a baby in there, The baby is curling, head toward toe, and what happens is the baby occludes its own airway."
