there is quite a bit of hysteria surrounding this in germany. fler's lyrics are certainly full of nationalism, which shocks a nation in which that type of sentiment is largely suppressed for obvious historical reasons. but i wouldn't say there's racism there, since the guy comes out of a multicultural crew and actually argues that if his turkish, persian or croatian friends can be proud of their country, so can he. he also says if nazis buy his music, that just shows how stupid they really are.

but exactly that is happening and his marketing doesn't try to prevent that either, which makes it really problematic for me...

I think this is a example of the media getting something and blowing it up outta scale. Like many wack ass Gangsta rappers we have here, these cats are just doing it for money, the hype, and the fame that comes with it. Emulate and play the role. Just like we give props to Criminals like Gotti, Tony Montana, Norega, Capone (all brutal figures in their own right), they rep one of the biggest, whitest, vicious criminal assholes they can get among thier people... my name is dj d-tale and i´m from berlin, even live a few blocks from his crib. i jus read this article an had to write about dat! this aryan rap thing is jus media hype bullshit. the label the kid fler is signed to had this provocative "german" promotion for his album which was really fucked up and could be interprated very bad. i ain´t wit da kid fler but i know people from his clikk an they ain´t racists at all. they got a lot, or even most of them ain´t from germany originally. there are a lot of black dudes too. so don´t think this is a racist thing goin on up in here. like my man from frankfurt said, u get smacked da fuck up for nazi shit in berlin! u can ask afu-ra for example, he stays a lot in berlin, havin a girlfriend here. we been kickin some shit together, so don´t get it wrong. is all good.

I didnt know what I was getting myself into, (being from America, where I can barely understand OUR rap) german rap just because I thought it was cool... Little did I know about this whole deal. I have listened to a lot of the songs and seen videos, and I only noticed a few times that he mentioned Hitler so I let it go...

By the looks of their music videos... they look more like a porno than a rap video.

German is my major and I can confidently proclaim that Fler's lyrics do absolutely not involve any kind of nationalism. Yes, there is
a fair amount of patriotic stuff to find, but this has to be viewed as a statement trying to maintain a new and healthy sort of national pride - not to be mixed up with nationalism. Which I think is a valid action. I am refering to a pride that was unthinkable a generation ago.
A basic pride that should not be overly critisized, but viewed as a basic tool for a functioning society.

Im sick of this crticism against fler and aggroberlin. You people need to get a life (prudes). There is nothing wrong with being patriotic. You need to remember that Germany is the leading Eurpean country, and in WWI they took on three nations on two fronts and were winning. In WW2 they conquered most of europe. While the nazi atrocities against the jew's were horendous, this is not the only country to commit genocide. By the way this happened 60 years ago get over it. There are more recent genocides that happened in africa, who mourns for them?
