May 3, 2006Phonte on Mobb Deep's "Blood Money" AlbumI mean uhh, Phonte talking about Mobb Deep's "Blood Money" album, in case you missed it: Mobb Deep is gone. Haven't listened to it yet, but I guess the growing consensus is Havoc and P will catch the proverbial brick on this one? Posted by jsmooth995 at May 3, 2006 2:17 PMComments
i heard the album and i think naysayers are off base. the lyrics are raw as always. the beats are more poppy, but there's 4 or 5 hard joints on there. p's verse on pearly gates is crazy. true, this album is being pushed as a club album, which is kind of confused in my opinion, since mobb is not expected to be that. but it's definitely not wak. they're just trying to reach a large base of people to cake off. if anyone deserves to get rich off of queens fame, it's m-o-b-b -G Posted by: G at May 3, 2006 3:05 PM I agree with the consensus. After hearing it on AOL Music, I am convinced that Blood Money is the worst rap album of the year, hands down. The album is made of plodding beats and forgettable songs and rhymes. If "Put 'Em In Their Place" wasn't announced as a single, I think I would have never remembered that song at all. Posted by: dave matthews at May 14, 2006 3:32 PM YEAH DAVE MATTHEWS IS RIGHT THATS SOME FREEMASON ART WORK N.W.O Posted by: killer at May 15, 2006 6:51 AM Since we are talkin about real hip hop fans, then everyone should know them cats when they were dissed in the beginning by Pac, when they were the realest. Mobb has dropped some serious joints, but, lets be real, one the greatest?? nah..definitely rememberable..but their lack of versitality still has them climbing that ladder to greatness. Q: If they were that great, why are they tryin to ride the back of 50? they do it for they money and fame, i am not hatin, game just recognize game. Posted by: iraaq at May 15, 2006 6:14 PM They became wack over the years... this is just the confirmation... Posted by: XXI at May 16, 2006 10:34 AM MOBB DEEP WILL NEVER BE WACK THEY DA REAL GANGSTAS DIFFRENCE BETWEEN LISTING TO RAP N LIVIN RAP I LIVE THAT LIFE I FEEL THA MUSIC YALL JUST LISTEN TA THA BEATS I DONT GIVE A FUCK WUT U SAYIN BOUT THIS ABLUM DIS SHIT IS HOTT Posted by: jc at May 19, 2006 2:37 AM most of you posting saying this album is hot probably and some mentioned even, not even knowing who mobb deep was until this album..OBVIOUSLY, you will like it for the simple fact that hav and prod are way iller then 50 ever dreamed, with rhymes AND beats..they need to start keeping it real and leave them clowns.. Posted by: malik at November 5, 2006 9:35 AM To the above post, I feel you man. I'm from the old school era too. Back then dissing another rapper meant it was done cleverely, and definitely in poetic, lyrical form. Hit em up was honestly " name calling " on beats. That joint still isn't respected by cats from our times man. Nowadays cats can't be clever no more, they just say everyone's name. From 50 to Em to dipset everyopne calls out now. What happened to the days, when you had to listen to the rhyme and figure out what they were talking about. Guess thinking was alot more involved back then. No wonder rhymes are so corny and simple now. This clubb mobb shit is hard to get used to, they honestly dropped off when infamy dropped in 1999. Every release from Infamy to now is weak. Forget Gunit bring back your old crew, Noyd, Chinky, Littles, Infamous Mobb, Bars & Hooks... One thing though, Mobb's worst efforts are far better than any southern crunk shit.
