The Vatican came out this week with a newsletter that announced the Catholic Church's official ruling body has now forgiven the Beatles, whom they once denounced as evil. But Ringo Starr, one of the two remaining Beatles, was not very excited about this forgiviness.

Interviewed on CNN, Starr said "Didn't the Vatican say we were satanic or possibly satanic -- and they've still forgiven us? I think the Vatican, they've got more to talk about than the Beatles."

Ringo Starr was probably referring to the Vatican's current scandal involving the cover-up and fail to properly act against the abuse and molestation of children by representatives of the church, including recent revelations that allegedly implicate the current Pope in efforts to prevent Priests from facing what most would consider proper consequences for their actions.

On this one, many would agree Ringo has a point. Hopefully though this can all be cleared up so that the millions of Catholics who practice in good faith will not feel their faith tainted by these issues.

The Vatican may have forgiven the Beatles over the weekend for their "satanic" messages -- but Ringo Starr, the legendary band's drummer, says he couldn't care less. In a tribute published to mark the 40th anniversary of the breakup of the band, who singer John Lennon once claimed were "more popular than Jesus," the Vatican newspaper "L'Osservatore Romano" said it had forgiven them and called them a "precious jewel."
