Charlie Crist Future: Independent?


After weeks of speculation, rumor has it Charlie Crist will soon announce his future plans, and according some sources, these could be his last days as a Republican?

A source that raises find for the GOP says Crist will announce on Thursday that he is running as an Independent, because he believes he may not be able to win the GOP primary. Competitor Marco Rubio is now 20 points ahead in the polls.

As an inependent though, polls indicate Crist could have a shot and winning office. This is sure to be a heated race from here on out, with other Republicans calling him a traitor or sellout, as some have already implied.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has decided to run as a nonaligned candidate rather than compete for the Republican Party nomination in his bid for the Senate, a GOP fundraiser tells CNN. The fundraiser, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that Crist has begun contacting financial supporters to tell them that he is running as a non-party affiliated candidate and to ask for their continued support. Once the overwhelming favorite in the battle for the Republican Senate nomination, Crist is now trailing former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio by more than 20 points, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released earlier this month...
