Grace Jones: Gaga? Ripoff!

The latest pop superstar Lady Gaga has many lovers and also lots of haters. From the looks of her latest interview, it looks like Grace Jones falls into the latter camp, as the 80s pop icon was getting her full hate on when the subject of Lady Gaga came up.

When asked if she might ever want to collaborate with Gaga, Grace Jones responded "Yes, she did [ask me to work with her], but I said no. I'd just prefer to work with someone who is more original and someone who is not copying me, actually."

Grace known in the 1980s for similarly outlandish outfits and grand diva style, and also for an eclectic and gay friendly persona that brought a diverse and devoted fan base. About why she feels this way about Lady Gaga, JOnes elaborated "Well, you know, I've seen some things she's worn that I've worn, and that does kind of piss me off."

I like both of them, and although I can see how Grace feels that way I hope they can come to an understanding, there are so few powerful women allowed up there on that level of the mainstream, it's much better to have them united instead of fighting each other.

Lady Gaga may be ruling the world, but Grace Jones isn't a fan. "I really don't think of her at all. I go about my business," Grace told the UK's Guardian newspaper after the former Studio 54 star and one-time Andy Warhol muse was asked what she thought of the modern day headline grabbing pop singer. The singer/model/actress and all around legend told the newspaper that the reports were true - Gaga had asked to collaborate with her -- but Grace turned Gaga down.
