October 3, 2005Brasilintime Live in NY
Caught a nice little show last night put together by Brian Cross aka B+, maker of Keepintime and Brasilintime. More photos here. Along with a preview of the Brasilintime film we got an extended jam session pairing J-Rocc, Cut Chemist, Madlib and Brazilian all-star DJ Nuts on the wheels and Paul Humphrey, Derf Reklaw on drums, along with someone who's name I didn't catch but he totally stole the show, playing everything from a gong to an old fire extinguisher.. can anyone ID this guy for me? EDIT: His name is Cyro Baptista. Thanks to Incognegro for putting me on the right track.. Posted by jsmooth995 at October 3, 2005 4:00 PMComments
damn, I'm jealous! Posted by: peter mac at October 3, 2005 6:56 PM I don't think that was Joao judging by his photo here.. the host was saying something that sounded like "Batiste" (presumably it was not Russell Batiste of the Funky Meters) Posted by: Jay Smooth at October 3, 2005 7:56 PM i think it's david matthews... he used to do some funky stuff with JB and was just in waxpoetics. just a guess though Posted by: jeff at October 4, 2005 12:17 AM i was shopping for some cds to buy outside of brasilintime and saw a photo of a much younger version of that guy you want to id. his name is vira lotcos, and he's the truth! Posted by: dj incognegro at October 4, 2005 12:31 AM Ha, I knew I saw you there. You was the only light-skinned brother there. ha That show was pretty sick. My boy snuck up into the afterparty and passed out our vinyl to Madlib, J-rocc and Cut Chemist. They were having good times. Mr. Humphries was in the pocket for 2 plus hours straight. Damn!!! Peace (Jerome's boy)DJ Priority Posted by: DJ Priority at October 4, 2005 1:52 AM Another jealous person here!..hmm any idea if there is going to be a European tour?? Posted by: JLS at October 4, 2005 6:50 AM Thanks for the love on the show - there will be more with Joao and Mamao and hopefully Wilson Das Neves in the near future both in the US and in Europe and starting it off in Sao Paulo and Recife...keep close to the site keepintime.com - paz b Posted by: b+ at October 12, 2005 5:55 PM Also , thanks for the love on Cyro.
