September 26, 2006Freddie Foxxx Dissing Rakim on "The King Is Down"This would have been much bigger about 17 years ago, but I'm still curious. Anybody remember the buzz back in the day that Ra had a new song named "Cut the Kane in Half"? That was right up there with the classic "Big Daddy Kane Has AIDS" rumor.

damn, I thought you had the song... Posted by: eskay at September 26, 2006 1:59 PM "I will eat Rakim's ass alive...." - Bumpy Knuckles. This classic Ayeee Yoooooo!!!!!!! moment was brought to you by PEZ.COM They should start callin him Shaky Knuckles. Is he still jealous at Ra after all these years?? His fault for showing up late to the recording studio... Posted by: Pez at September 26, 2006 2:20 PM Pure cowardice. Why don't he dis Jay-Z? The people who are really fuckin' up hiphop. Why test the God? On one hand I hope Rakim ingnores his ass. This so fucked up. cuz I'm a freddy foxx fan. But he has no quotables. My favorite jam is "part of my life" that's my fav primo beat. he did it for foxx. the other thing is the way these dudes rhyme now is all about the types of violence that one can inflict not about the complexity of the rhymes and foxx is nototorious for talking about fucking somebody up in a rhyme. but can he just rhyme and put words together? Can this be a peaceful battle? and if it is I really can't imagine foxx doing that. he always gets all hype and hollers. I wish it was Kool g rap vs. Rakim or the Big Daddy Kane jawn. At least it would be peace and we would get some rhymes. This freddy foxx bullshit is cowardice. I hope he cancels it and doesn't release it. We don't need this in our ranks right now. He needs to direct that anger at these wack dudes or exposing the slave-trading radio personalities. but on the other hand, I hope rakim rattles the shit out of his little ass and make foxx cool out and call somebody on rakim's level. as long as it's peace. out. -Black People Posted by: Black People at September 26, 2006 2:40 PM You cain't (misspelling intentional) dis Rakim by saying "I'll punch you in ya mouf" or "if that was me in 88 I woulda shot you with my twin glocks" You gotta dis rakim with sick ryhmes and arrangment. Posted by: Black People at September 26, 2006 3:19 PM First off how is it cowardly to dis the so-called greatest emcee of all time? Dissing all those "young" and "lil" dudes is too easy. Those dudes dis themselves everytime they touch a mic or step foot in the booth. Bumpy Knucks is tired of Rakim talking slick on him. For every came there is a straw that can break its back. Freddie is no different. He's held himself back and can no longer do so. I respect that. Now, let's talk about the so-called "god" emcee's legacy. Is Bumpy wrong in his assessment that Rakim hasn't done shit that's dope since Let the Rhythm Hit Em? Yeah, he had some decent songs on those 2 wack solo albums, but dude is struggling. He's living off his legacy while rappers like Kane and Rakim and yes even Bumpy Knucks continue to add to theirs. Whatever happened to showing and proving? If Rakim is that great he should have no problem stepping up to the plate and accepting the challenge. However I'm sure Rakim will continue to hide behind his legacy instead of upholding it. I need for Rakim to make a hot song in this new millennium otherwise Freddie got it. Not forever, but he is officially challenging Rakim and Rakim needs to acknowledge it. Jay can ignore Cam because Jay is still making music. Rakim isn't doing shit but living off his legacy, and pretty soon that's really gonna wear thin with no new musical contribution. Posted by: Thun at September 26, 2006 3:29 PM Give that microphone Posted by: Freddie FoXXX at September 26, 2006 3:33 PM I spit the murder one verse that's for the thugs that be thuggin' Posted by: Freddie FoXXX at September 26, 2006 3:36 PM Ok fuck dat now it's on. The little shit you just posted was alright. I ain't gon' front. I already said I'm a fan. and I ain't bout to be a turncoat. but foxx is out his league. you started it. ---------- Shine permanently only my mind's concernin me End. -Black People Posted by: Black People at September 26, 2006 3:47 PM You act like Rakim has more than just his one single flow? Then you're gonna post some old ass rhymes? How about something new? Oh, I forgot, he has zero new material. Even the good Dr. Dre couldn't fuck with him. That's not a good indication when Dre can take anyone and give them hits. Dre couldn't even fuck with Rakim. Meanwhile the Don himself KRS stays putting out new music, and Kane also puts out new music. Why is it that Rakim has such a hard time staying relevant and hiding behind his slowly fading legacy while his peers continue to add to theirs? That's a valid question. Posted by: Dun at September 26, 2006 4:29 PM Hey Black People, how about giving me some rhymes from this millennium? Oh, there aren't any? Why is it that Rakim's peers like KRS and Kane can still make music, which only adds to their legacy, while Rakim hides behind his slowly but surely fading legacy? I'll never front on the 86-91 Rakim, but that was only 5 years. How about 91 through 06. Dude has been more idle that a car in neutral. Posted by: Bruce at September 26, 2006 4:33 PM Then they start crying, "But that's old stuff. Where his new stuff at?" "You wonder how come the album was late. I was giving you time to get the last one straight" - Rakim Yo, the rhyme I posted above was from after '97 in the middle of the Versace wars no less. Also Dr. Dre has a string of radio hits. But he's not known for rockin with the greatest lyricist repeatedly. Snoop's his man. Ren and Eazy (rest his soul) were his peeps. But still I love him. You ain't gonna get me to dis Dre or anybody I got love for. Check it out: Just cuz Lil Jon and Ludacris might have 4 songs in rotation each month it doesn't mean the product that they release has ever touched greatness. You dudes gotta have some respect. Rakim has touched lyrical levels fazed by maybe four other dudes in history. Doesn't matter if it's current or not. Plus, we all know the Oh my God album was announced in 2001 they worked on that for three years and it fell through so then Rakim started work in '05 on something new. So that's where we are now. The shit I posted above IS from some of his latest released material. Not from 86-91. He got rhyming skills. most dudes do not. Finally it's easy for joblo emcee to drop some silly ass new shit weekly but it takes time to create dope shit that's gonna be worthwhile. And sayin all that I'm still a fan of Dre and Freddy Foxx. -Black People Posted by: Black People at September 26, 2006 5:17 PM "...That's not a good indication when Dre can take anyone and give them hits..." He can take anyone young and unmolded (is that a word?) and put them in a Dre song but Rakim was well established, making it a different template for Dre. Posted by: janine at September 26, 2006 5:40 PM quality over quantity Posted by: trusouth at September 26, 2006 8:00 PM "I will eat Rakim's ass alive on any record, any stage" By the sound of this, Foxxx doesn't want to battle Ra, he wants to toss his salad. Posted by: Don at September 26, 2006 8:22 PM Damn I got so much more to say but I gotta roll out til Friday or Saturday. Somebody else please hold it down. Peace. -Black People Posted by: Black People at September 26, 2006 9:25 PM I can't believe what i'm reading here. I'm a huge fan of both of them but to even here about something like this absolutely hurts. Posted by: Jermaine Hardy at September 26, 2006 9:57 PM Sounds like Rocky hiding from Clubber Lang to me... .. Let the battle happen .. on the street in Brentwood so neither one can claim homefield.. opps thats homefield for both EVEN Better. And to those who say why should they even do this. Ask yourself what you miss the most about real Hip Hop.. and if it aint a battle of some sort.. turn yourself over to the authorities right now. Posted by: Belve at September 27, 2006 5:53 AM thats crazy.. and this will be a great battle.. Rakim is the God lyrically, but he aint much of a battle rapper compared to Freddie foxxx Posted by: Crip D.O.G at September 27, 2006 3:59 PM finally some hiphop news! Posted by: trusouth at September 27, 2006 6:25 PM I'll never front on the 86-91 Rakim, but that was only 5 years. How about 91 through 06. Dude has been more idle that a car in neutral. Posted by Bruce. Wow I can really say that ignorance is bliss. So let me see Albert Einstein most prominent work was prior to 1933. You can say everything he did after 1933 to his death (Give or take on 1939) was not as revolutionary as his prior work. To say the least I really like the both of them. I am still a big daddy Kane fan till today. Just think that it is more like apples and oranges. Rakim is more a deep conceptual type emcee. Freddie is on that more punch you in the mouth shit. Just does not work. Rakim works blows away freddie foxx, hell foxx said without rakim who the hell knows where this music would have been. Posted by: tomAnderson at September 27, 2006 9:22 PM This is just a way to try to grab some headlines (guess it worked). If Rakim never made another record after Paid In Full, he'd still be a f*cking legend. A legend that shouldn't be dissed like this. What does Foxxx have to crow about anyway? He was making tunes with John Cena just a minute ago for chrissakes. Have you ever heard a dope Freddy Foxxx jam without Primo behind the boards? Posted by: Foxxx Suxxx at September 27, 2006 10:02 PM Peace. Posted by: Kwasim Allah at September 28, 2006 12:23 PM This is nuthin but a pure publicity stunt, jealousy and envy brings hate. Dude aint nuthin compared to Rakim. i hope Rakim rips him to shreads if he feels the need 2 respond. Posted by: NYCKING at September 28, 2006 9:30 PM Yo Kwasim Allah, Yo I just read on some other site that this little shit sprung up because some sucka-ass interviewer asked Rakim about the old as beef. Trying to incite him. And Rakim got hype and was like I ain't never run from a fuckin battle. And that's where I got a problem. I been seeing this shit run rampant in the last like 3 or 4 years. These sucka-ass, slave-trading radio personalities keep tryin keep our artist beefin'. They should all change thier names to WBEF radio where hiphop beef lives. Same thing with these fake as "journalists". They have no musical points to discuss with legends. So they ask them who they got beef with. Or try to get 'em to say who they 'ont like. Y'all ever read the old, old issue of the source with Rakim on the cover being interviewed by Canibis? That's how it's supposed to go. But these fake dudes keep raising our artists' blood pressure. Creating "beef" out of thin air. So now Rakim says I ain't never run from no battle. And not to back down or doubt himself, Foxx says I'll crush Rakim. Like magic. Beef from nowhere. I seen them do that shit to MOP. MOP come through the radio station and they was like yeah we wanna say peace to Dame and you know good looking out to er'rybody and so on and so on. And then the sucka ass dude gon say yeah but I heard dame dash said blah blah blah blah. And MOP went off. Started wilin' saying fuck er'rybody. Same thing happened with method man. Normal casual interview, then the interviewer go bring mef's wife personal health and beef with wendy williams. Mef's whole demeanor changed. He started wilin. he was peace and they pushed his buttons and made him mad. That shit broke my heart. Cuz I recognize the game that these suckas is using. In entertainment, conflict sells. If you walking down the street and all the couples on both sides of the street holdin hands then you'll mind ya business. But if girl smacks the shit out of her boyfriend and say "who you callin a bitch?" then you gon look. all these suckas know this game and they milk it at our expense. so yo, if you know foxx or ra let them know this shit before it blows. or if you an artist, don't let these cowards play you and make you fight your peers. Out. -Black People Posted by: Black People at September 29, 2006 2:07 PM Fuck Rakim! Dont front! fuck u niggas -White People Posted by: White People at October 4, 2006 5:56 PM Look hip hop is hip hop. There has been and alwayz will be beef. But those of us who know Ra for who and what he is, also know that he don't need to prove anything. Freddy show some respect. Let the brotha enjoy what he as achieved. He laid vocals that became the measurement of excellence. Leave your own leagacy without trying to put out the flames of another brotha's who's flame is eternal in measurment. Posted by: Smooth 1 at October 5, 2006 9:16 AM Why is this even an issue?...one, the majority of people who MAY know who Freddie Foxx is, WILL KNOW who Rakim is...and not b/c fox was late to the studio either...Rakim always been a rapper that was more about "look, i just destroyed you verbally, here's an autograph...peace"...now foxx wants to jump up when he never even destoryed n.o.r.e....i respect foxx, but not like i do rakim...i say foxx needs to make another album with marky mark,...WHOOPS...i meant john cena (easy mistake), and leave rakim alone...follow the leader Posted by: Willy Clyde at October 6, 2006 11:12 AM Rakim comes at Freddie Foxxx in a magazine article in 2006. Stop with the Bullshit or Start listening to Rock Music. posted by the Blog Finders for Bumpy Knuckles. Posted by: Bumpy Knuckles at October 7, 2006 2:12 PM once an artist thinks he is untouchable he gets lazy. its a fact. battles are part of hip hop. when everyone says they are better than the rest sooner or later its gonna start a battle. whoever wins it is usually the better mc. Posted by: trusouth at October 7, 2006 3:30 PM But, Blog Finders, the point you are missing is it's always been about rhymes. Even when it ain't no battles we would make our own battle tapes. But it was always about rhymes.
these dudes are like one step from fighting in their rhymes when they battle nowadays. and that's the diversion. And to be honest, we welcome battles and competition. But we really are afraid. And I'll admit it AFRAID
nowadays suckas don't know how to battle. cuz of a song. freddy foxx is known for his tough talk and gunplay in his raps. And I ain't sayin I doubt him. He might really be built like that on the street side of things. but I ain't tryin' see him prove himself violently with rakim. Only lyrically. if this was rakim vs anybody else i wouldn't have to say that. if you bloggin' for freddy foxx for real, get in his ear and tell im to keep it peace. i don't wanna read about nobody else gettin shot. Especially if it two dudes who fought for hiphop. -Black People Posted by: Black People at October 7, 2006 4:03 PM ^Correction: *Fought OVER Hip hop Hip hop can be fought FOR.. RIP Rakim -White People Posted by: White People at October 7, 2006 4:43 PM What I meant was Rakim and Freddy Foxx held it down for hiphop. these ain't the type of people I wanna see beefin' against each other. They're on the same side. Posted by: Black People at October 7, 2006 11:34 PM I've got mixed feelings about this beef. I have much respect for both Rakim and Freddie Foxxx... But like some of you said... it seems like Rakim is out of the picture, and Freddie Foxx is still here... spitting hard flows and he's getting better and better... Ever since his verse on Militia, he has been one of my favorite mc's. But I must admit, when I heard that Freddie Foxx have called out Rakim, I thought to myself... who else have the guts to do somthing like this? I'm looking forward to hearing the track, and I hope Rakim will respond. But most importently I hope they will keep it lyrical. In battles these days, its either, fake vs fake, or real vs. fake... this time it's real vs real! This is somthing an old school hiphoper can look forward to. Peace.
