October 25, 2007Saul Williams Goes Radiohead Route With "Niggy Tardust" AlbumFor his new collabo with Trent Reznor, "The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust!" , Saul Williams is following in the footsteps of Radiohead and offering the album for download with payment optional.. he explains this decision thusly: Most people aren't aware of the world of art and commerce where exploitation strips each artist down to nigger. Each label, like apartheid, multiplies us by our divide and whips us 'til we conform to lesser figures. What falls between the cracks is a pile of records stacked to the heights of talents hidden from the sun. Yet the energy they put into popularizing smut makes a star of a shiny polished gun. The ballot or the bullet for Mohawk or the mullet is a choice between new times and dying days. And the only way to choose is to jump ship from old truths and trust dolphins as we swim through changing ways. The ways of middlemen proves to be just a passing trend. We need no priests to talk to God. No phone to call her. And when you click the link below, i think it fair that you should know that your purchase will make middlemen much poorer... Brrrrrrrrap! this man is a fucking genius! Posted by: nickolette at October 25, 2007 5:08 PM Indeed. Posted by: PurpleZoe at October 26, 2007 3:58 AM what a amazing collaboration of minds...hip hop needs a leader...he has certainly rose to the challenge...intelligent play on words...you can hear where Trent Reznor actually kept things minimal out of respect for those words...a true producer...this album is worth more than 5 dollars...buy it now! Posted by: Joseph Beaty at November 1, 2007 10:54 AM I downloaded this courtesy of Trent Reznor and nin.com. It's freaking awesome. Posted by: mandajake at November 1, 2007 12:59 PM I downloaded this courtesy of Trent Reznor and nin.com. It's freaking awesome. Posted by: mandajake at November 1, 2007 12:59 PM Most brilliant album in decades. pure raw force. it's amazing. Posted by: mike yadon at November 2, 2007 10:15 PM Yes Indeed a fantastic album. Well worth going back and paying five dollors if you down load it for free the first time. I want to put power and money in this mans hands and let him loose to choke the minds of those who tighten the noose around our necks. Posted by: big bry at November 3, 2007 11:48 AM this main speaks with pure intelligence and his purpose and motivation is genius... it also inforces the guilt factor, making us want to pay and directly support the artist. Posted by: charlie at November 3, 2007 12:31 PM this music is really in a different clash.. its more like snoop industrialized i think change is nice but this is really ghetto for industrial music.. the taste is unsatisfactory . Posted by: aaron at November 3, 2007 6:52 PM I downloaded it for free; after this "taste test" I bought a copy. Great music, great poetry. The music industry should learn. I download and if I like I buy. I started doing that with the original Napster. Great work Mr. Williams and Rezner. This is a great work of art and a great way to help this new distribution method succeed! Posted by: john noonan at November 3, 2007 8:55 PM Amazing album. I gambled by pre ordering just because of the artists involved in its production, and it did not disappoint. I've haven't found a way to like the first song, which maybe I just don't "get", but every other track is excellent. This has quickly become my favorite rap album, if Rage Against the Machine doesn't count. It's intelligent and socially relevant. Better yet, the themes in the album, and the method of its release really compliment each other. Buying this album makes a real statement. Posted by: joe at November 4, 2007 4:04 AM hey this man i fucking amazing Posted by: dumb ass at November 5, 2007 1:17 PM welcome to the revolution...saul williams is going far... Posted by: damien at November 8, 2007 9:41 AM This is a great album! I prefer his first two though but hey, that's just personal taste. If you download it, please pay money! The Radiohead downloads have done poorly money-wise so far and we need to show that it's worthwhile for artist's do this and take the power out of the hands of the middlemen/record execs/parasites. This internet is a perfect way to do this. Preach over ;P Posted by: dif_eng at November 13, 2007 8:59 AM This is a great album! Although, I prefer 'Athemyst Rock Star' and 'Saul Williams' but hey, that's just personal taste and this one may grow more on me. If you download it, please pay money! The Radiohead downloads have done poorly money-wise, so far, and we need to show that it's a worthwhile way for artist's to release their material and, at the same time, take the power out of the hands of the middlemen/record execs/parasites. Preach over ;P Posted by: dif_eng at November 13, 2007 9:03 AM |
