Rue McClanahan Stroke


Sad news for Golden girls fans, as another one of their beloved ladies has fallen ill. This time it is Rue McClanahan who has suffered a stroke, soon after having heart bypass surgery in November.

Strokes are caused by a blood clot in the brain, and can cause terrible damage if not caught quickly, but in this case doctors were able to remove the clot, and Rue is now undergoing physical therapy and hoping to be back out of the hospital by the end of the month. Great news after quite a health scare!

The chances of getting a stroke can be reduced by controlling the najor risk factors. The biggestrisk factor for a stroke is high blood pressure, and then comes cigarette smoking and diabetes mellitus.among other causes.

Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan suffered a stroke while recovering from her November heart bypass surgery, E! News reported. Doctors were able to successfully remove the blood clot from the actress' brain. The 75-year-old McClanahan's speech and movement on the right side of her body have been affected, and her recovery has been slow but steady.
