Are big changes coming for the Twilight movie franchise?

That's the latest word from Hollywood, with reports that the movie series is seeking a new director.

The series is based on one of the best selling book series of all time, focusing on an angsty young vampire and his mopey young human love interest.

For this latest installment Breaking Dawn, the producers are reportedly considering, Gus Vant Sant, Marie Antoinette's Sofia Coppola and Bill Condon in their search, all top hollywood directors that would take the series to another level.

I'm not so sure about Bill Condon but I'd love to see either Van Sant or Coppola helming the franchise. I don't know if it would be as big a box-office hit, but they'd be sure to do something smart and creative with it.

Other than them, it would be cool to see the great Korean director, Chan Wook Park, take a crack at it.

The decision on whether or not to split the final book of the Twilight series in half is still up in the air, as is the decision on who will direct the movie. Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final installment which could well piggy-back on Harry Potter's idea to split the last book in half. Summit Entertainment have been putting in a few calls to some Oscar winning directors in the hopes of bringing the films critical credibility.
