August 24, 2007Hell Yes, Hip-Hop is So Totally Dead![]() That's right, it's over, Move along. Nothing to see here. Comments
If hip hop is not dead... I challenge you to name three good hip hop tracks from this year. Anyone is welcome to jump in. Posted by: eric at August 24, 2007 11:08 PM Excellent point, Eric. Although, I think Keef Murray might have something. Lemme go cop the wax and then I'll get back. But at this point, it's been all garbage. Hip Hop has only been alive to my ears because I buy classic albums when they get reissued. Like the Steezo Crazy Noise jawn. Or the whole Court is Now in Session album. People rejoicing over them suckas united onstage when they are the direct, fuckin' primary reasons that Black urban music is a joke. -Black People Posted by: Black People at August 25, 2007 12:07 AM i hate to admit this, but for the first time ever... i totally agree with BP. Posted by: eric at August 25, 2007 4:15 AM Three Good Tracks Are "Hip Hop Police", "Sexy Lady", And "Crank That". Posted by: anonymous at August 25, 2007 3:55 PM Three Good Tracks Are "Hip Hop Police", "Sexy Lady", And "Crank That". Posted by: anonymous at August 25, 2007 3:55 PM Black People how old are you? like 50? The new tracks this year might not be that good to your old ass, but stop pouring cold water on these young kids having fun. You seem like the life and soul of the party. Why don't y'all start a Hip Hop Is Dead club or something. Anyway, It was a good video Jsmooth. I caught some subliminals at Cornel West and I cannot co sign that but it was still a dope video keep it up homey. Glad you not a pessimist on this thing. Posted by: Eat My Shorts at August 25, 2007 4:05 PM UGK and Outkast-Internationals Playa's Anthem
Posted by: Eat My Shorts at August 25, 2007 4:12 PM Neither youth nor old age justifies ignorance, my friend. You'd be better off attacking someone's intelligence, maturity level, respect and passion for music. Not their age. Those four traits can be found in any age bracket. -Black People Posted by: Black People at August 25, 2007 6:08 PM Haha that wasn't really for Cornel, he does say up front that you shouldn't confuse him with a real rapper.. My dj's play a bunch of tracks I like every week, but as far as mainstream: I do like the UGK and Kast, moslty for the video though. I like "I Get Money" sorry if that's blasphemy, and I like version with Luda even more. I like some of this year's Common and Kanye tracks.. The Joell Ortiz is cool.. Did Devin the Dude's album come out in 07? That had at least 3 or 4 that I dug. Also some of Consequence's album (maybe out of the mainstream at this point). Also the Blu & Exile, and anything with Exile on production. Posted by: Jay Smooth at August 25, 2007 6:14 PM damn attackin a mans age! Posted by: trusouth at August 25, 2007 7:27 PM I'm probably younger than that guy. But my mind is very strong. I'm no fool or vic. Wasn't brought up like that. But buss it out, though, Trusouth: Play 'em if you have 'em on deck. Then try to sneak some of this new shit in there. I try to give these guys a listen but they're corny. They should call their stuff something else. Emo Urban Pop. Urban Pop. Urban Dance Dance USA shit. Entertainment Product. Artificial Music Substitute. Whatever they wanna do. And you got those jokers on that stage to thank. I'm the last of a dying breed. If more people were cool, being cool wouldn't be as desired. -Black People Posted by: Black People at August 25, 2007 7:57 PM These were the best I could find. Nas "Classic" f/ Rakim, KRS-One, Kanye West Exile is dope. Been listening to that guy for almost 10 years. Gonna give the album a listen and post my impressions. Posted by: eric at August 25, 2007 10:52 PM i feel you on that black people.... oh a little off topic , are there any plans for a new inspecteh deck album?? Posted by: trusouth at August 26, 2007 12:05 AM Blu & Exile album is a classic. Wow. Thank you, Jay. Posted by: eric at August 26, 2007 5:16 PM yo jay, did you hear "the fevers" by ta'raach? that is a pretty good album. blu is on a few joints off of that. Posted by: jamrockj at August 27, 2007 5:20 PM i would say immortal technique fits into paragon as one who uses hip-hop to push his leftist views. not trying to knock him but hes starting to get on the pretentious side lately. Posted by: jamrockj at August 27, 2007 5:33 PM aesoprock album is tight also. Posted by: jamrockj at August 27, 2007 5:37 PM PAUL WALL GOTS THE BEST TRACKS TYPE HIS NAME IN YOUTUBE TO GET TOP TRACK. JAY-Z gots good tracks,Lupe fiasco, chamillionaire, 50 cent i get money the list goes on and on so if you think hip hop is ending ur wrong. Its just begginning Posted by: wutever at October 8, 2007 10:09 PM |
