Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Hollywood actress with a flamboyant personality whom some consider the predecessor to today's Paris Hiltons of the world, was arguably famous for being famous as much as she was known for any particular acting roles. She was also known for being married more than a few times, and having quite an irreverent take on marriage as an institution.

Among her famous quotes on marriage, and divorce, was the gem of an insight that one husband taught her "housekeeping," which meant that she "keeps the house." Gabor was married a grand total of nine times, with seven ending in divorce and one in an annulment. Her ninth time seems to have been the charm, as she has remained with Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt since 1986. I guess it really never is too late to get it right!

Zsa Zsa Gabor: "He taught me Housekeeping"

  • A man in love is incomplete until he has married. Then he's finished.

  • Conrad Hilton was very generous to me in the divorce settlement. He gave me 5000 Gideon Bibles.

  • Getting divorced just because you don't love a man is almost as silly as getting married just because you do.

  • He taught me housekeeping; when I divorce I keep the house.
