Jail For F-Bomb?

Anyone who drives has had run-ins with road rage before, but have you hever heard of someone going to jail just for dropping an f-bomb?

That's what might happen to Mike Shahrokhi, who was charged after a torrent of abuse aimed at a fellow driver. Now, if you watch the video and read the article in the link below, the guy was being extremely obnoxious, and it wasn't that he just said the f-word once. But still, is 30 days in jail really called for here?

Jail For F-Bomb?

fox kc

Mike Shahrokhi, 43, of Leawood faces disorderly conduct charges that he says stem from a case of road rage along 135th Street in Overland Park. Shahrokhi admits dropping an F-bomb during an argument with another driver, but he says that it's ridiculous that he could be facing jail time over it...

The conduct is worth at least a few days in jail if it's his first offense. If he has a past record involving rage the full 30 days might be called for.

Thats fucked up. nothing else to say

It's true!!! It happened to me in Nevada. I said the "F" word in ear shot of the police and that's exactly what I was arrested for. I was conversing with a relative on a very private matter and happened to use the "F" word in mid sentence while the police were cruising by and bam, that was it. The arresting officer was not nice about the situation either. He walked up to me very quickly, grabbed me by the front of my shirt punching me in the chest at the same time, then threw me up against his police vehicle, and slapped the cuffs on me. And off I went. I didn't even know what the charge was until after I was bailed out. The arresting officer wouldn't tell me and I was kept in a holding cell for 15 hours before being transfered to a regular cell. My husband wasn't able to get the bail up until 10pm that night. That was the first time in my life that I had ever been arrested. I had never been in any legal trouble in my life. I've always been a law abiding citizen and even trained with the LAPD to become a police officer in my younger years. I passed the course, but I moved to Nevada, got married and starting having children, so never quite made it to the academy. So to have been arrested at 40 years of age, was just devastating to me. I was humiliated and angry to say the lest. I waived my trail rights when I had to appear in court and the Judge fined me $800.00 for the trouble, put me on probation for 5 years and told me he better never see me in his court room again. That was over 12 years ago and believe me, I haven't been back. I'm still ashamed of the whole ordeal, because I always prided myself on the fact that I was such a good citizen. But I have not stopped saying the "F" word when the situation may warrent it, I just make sure the cops aren't trolling around if or when I do.

This shows how sick our judicial system is. It is not only a waste of taxpayers money but probably violations of couple constitutional rights. If you cause accident in NJ causing death of injury in NJ you have fair chance be let off with a ticket. So if you get high and drunk and drive in against the traffic on a highway. You see inside the prison if you are Paris Hilton or drop f-bomb. Aren't we all American citizens, then why the penalties are comparable? Boo to the jidges.

The sad thing is that the word only has value of what we put on it. For a man to go to jail for sayin F word is just retarded. F you could bother some but if i said prick to some that might be more offensive. Just said how people can judge others on a word they choose to use. And to go to jail for it is most disturbing. Shit we have people who kill people who just get couple of years and this man is going to get a month for saying the Fword? that is just fuked up all im going to say.

30 days sounds about right. Yea for enforcing the law.

Hi
I think he got what he deserved, I think that people that only think of themselves and cuss loud enough for everyone to hear deserves to be dealt with for being a obnoxiuos retard. I dont want to hear your language, and nobody else does either. If there were children around I would also push for a big fine and even more jail time.

I like it and it should be done more.

Total waste of taxpayers dollars, not to mention police protection. I think the officers should be out running down criminals instead of potty mouths. We do have some crime left unsolved? Who was the Judge? Boo to you.

Too bad they didn't arrest him for road rage on top of bad language. Of course he would think that was wrong too. The lady talking about how unfair it was to be arrested in her driveway. It's obvious she must have been screaming for the officers to hear her in thier patrol car. I'm sure her nieghbors are really greatful. If my neighbor was like her I would all the nieghbors together and confront her about her language. There are probably kids that live nearby also. How do you think you look cussing loud enough for everyone to hear it. To me you would be someone I wouldn't let my kids near, you would be the obnoxious nieghbor that everyone wishes would move somewhere else. And just really a low life in opinion.

Just another of us losing are freedom. Were is freedom of speech?

Posted by: gregory at October 25, 2009 8:39 PM

pretty soon you won't be able to speak out against anything or anyone.nationalism is here and socialism is near and your personal rights and the 2nd amendment are in jepordy, just remember that!!!!

The following is a complete list of words you will be able to say in public in 2015 A.D.; 1) hello, 2) good-bye.

To all you pansies who think the punishment is appropriate, you'll be the first to cry "INJUSTICE" when "they" come knocking at your door!

Posted by: Anonymous at October 25, 2009 9:10 PM

but i dont understand how someone can be arrested for say it, when our freedom of speech is protected by the first amendment

Posted by: dominick at October 25, 2009 9:13 PM

I think that is ridiculous that he was even approached let alone arressted by the police. One of the comments I read stated why are they not out looking for real trouble (like those people who walk around snatching up little girls)...I'm not well versed on the book side of the house, but it sounds like some type of violation of freedom of speech...if his lawyer was worth anything, he'd fight his case alot harder and that "law" violation

Posted by: Anonymous at October 25, 2009 10:03 PM

Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Totally outragious that its even possible to begin with. Facists are taking over your rights a little more everyday, and it will be this societies ultimate undoing... Sad there is so much apathy.

All the jokers who think this is a good thing and justice, wait until its your turn under the boot for some facist reason. Then we'll see how good you think it is. Your turn will come aslong as this kind of thing is considered acceptable in a free society.

Wow! The United States is really changing and not for the better apparently. I am in agreement for the police doing real work like little kids as mentioned, rapist, molestors, robbers and the other disgusting and evil people out there. They should really crackdown on cell phone drivers!!!

This is quite extreme but, if they wanted to make him understand give him a fine or some hours of community service jail cells are for the scumb who deserve to be there!!!!

Posted by: Ten at October 25, 2009 11:09 PM

That is FUCKED up

Posted by: Anonymous at October 25, 2009 11:24 PM

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

That pretty much covers it I think.

this is the work of the communist jews who controll the usa !!!!

For Ranae Keithly, I have one thing to say -- if it ever happens like that again, sue the police department.

1) You have to be read your rights (Miranda)
2) You have to be informed of the charge before booking or holding can be done.
3) A male officer assaulted you -- you could sue for sexual misconduct as he touched your chest (even with a fist).

It just goes to show everyone what the taxpayer's money is going towards -- arresting pottymouths, instead of drug dealers and drunk drivers, because they are harder to prosecute.

Next time you get arrested, if at all, tell the male officer if he touches you, you'll sue him for sexual misconduct, attemtped rape and sexual assault. Insist a female officer cuff you, and don't resist her. If an officer pulls a gun on you and you're not armed, you can charge him with excessive force.

That's the law as they wrote it -- so USE IT...

You get offended by the F word and yet your running around calling people retards, some might take offense to that as well and want you jailed for that. Being that i have two mentally handicapped brothers i do take offense to that word. So instead of freaking out and telling people they get what they deserve just remember thats the pot calling the kettle black

Posted by: Anonymous at October 26, 2009 2:50 AM

I didn't mean anthing by it and it wasn't directed towards you. I also have a nephew that is mentally handicapped, also half of my family tree has retinitis pigmentosa. I'm ticked off because almost everyone on this blog thinks that it is o.k. to talk anyway they want to and could care less that some people are offended by it. So what I was saying is grow up.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 26, 2009 3:29 AM

my above argument specifically pertains to the comment by renae keithly though, because in the situation of driving, it could be argued that an angry, loud display could directly interfere with the ability of others to safely operate a motor vehicle. Thus, shahrokhi would never win in court against a disorderly conduct charge. Constitutional rights all change when a person is behind the wheel of a 2 ton deadly weapon.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 27, 2009 4:55 AM

The way that i look at it those that throw the f word around are showing their lack of intelligence. So they cuss and swear thats them, let them show their true intelligence.. People do need to grow up I agree there, the simple part that I was getting at was how can you judge someone else for throwing around swear words and sit there and say they don't care if they offend anyone, but you sit there and throw around retarded and don't care if you offend anyone, so how is that any different?
