Diners in Port Richmond Paid the Favor Forward!

A beautiful example of the best kind of holiday spirit in action, as a couple in a local restaurant in Philadelphia started a trend of paying it forward with one favor that mulitplied itself lasted throughout the evening.

The magic in Port Richmond began when one couple decided to carry out a random act of kindness by paying for the table next to them, as well as themselves. That next table then paid for the table next to them, and the chain reaction of generosity continued throughout the night, according to restaurant staff who say none of the people seemed to know each other. Quite a nice story! There must be some sort of example Wall street can get from this.

A mystery couple, who didn't leave any names or numbers, walked into a Port Richmond restaurant, finished their meals and then set off a splendid chain reaction of generosity that lasted for hours. That's just what employees at the Aramingo Diner in Port Richmond said a man and a woman did during their breakfast shift last Saturday morning...

This is wonderful...but not unique...I remember my father 40 some-odd years ago paying the toll at the Tacony-Palmyra bridge for the guy behind us. Then it was a dime. Today it's 2 dollars and I still make sure the guy behind me is paid for. I tell the toll taker to tell the driver to "pay it forward." I don't know if they do but I enjoy it....God Bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Hmm. Interesting.

Yeah, you can give the bridge toll taker the money, but who is to say she doesn't just put it in her pocket? That has become such a big fad that a crooked toll-taker could make a nice profit collecting duplicate tolls and who would ever know. Sorry to be cynical, but people steal for a lot less with more chance of getting caught. Not to mention, the person behind you might then spend the rest of her drive worrying about who the stalker is that paid her toll. 2 dollars isn't going to light up anyone's world anyway. It's like giving money to bums. You do it to make yourself feel good, but in the end, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans and doesn't make the world a better place. Better you should send your $2 to a worthwhile charity.

Kevin, it's $2.00.
Would it be the end of the world if the toll taker took it?

I so enjoyed your positive attitude Kevin! Anyone tell you before that in order to be the change you want to see in this world, you need to start with yourself. The fact that one is compelled to do any good deed is worthy in itself. However doing a good deed certainly does not have to based on whether you know if the receipient is going to benefit from it either positively or negatively. The fact that you have done on good deed is in itself the point to be made. I'm glad that those who share your views of negating thoughts do not out number those who simply want to do something good for their fellow human being with nothing expecting in return except that it will be paid forward. What goes around-comes around...ever wonder what has come full circle for you?

Kevin, I feel very sorry for you.

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas! Don't be a Scrooge...be as a wide eyed little child and be Happy that someone gave something for no reason at all except to do a good deed. We need much much more of that.
