Priest: Shoplift and Say Amen!

You times are heard when the church is telling to steal. A holy man in England is actually advising his congregation that it's okay to shoplift if they need to, during these tough economic times.

While not, strictly speaking, endorsing the cime of shoplifting, the priest did say this misdemeanor is preferable to what he considers more serious crimes like burglary or prostitution, for people who are going with out and see no other choice, to provide for themselves.

It certainly isa testament to our lack of a societal safety net, and insufficient charity and support, that the church itself is advising people to shoplift. Store owners who go to great length to prevent theft with security cameras, anti-theft guards and private security firms, say this sermon was deplorable. But the Priest said: ""I would ask them not to take any more than they need, for any longer than they need ... My advice does not contradict the Bible's eighth commandment because God's love for the poor and despised outweighs the property rights of the rich."

During the Great Depression people did not steal.
This idiot should be defrocked and banned from the church.

Well, the holy book tells us about false prophets. We all know that the catholic church is a nest for that kind of prophets. Its ok to steal, its ok to rape children, its ok for the richest church to tell people to go shoplifting but its not ok for the church to give some or all of its riches to the poor. Jesus didnt have fancy shoes, fance clothes, fancy meals, fancy gold silverware, as they do. Its hard to give up their luxury, its better to say: go my children shoplift, God will forgive you, just bring your tithes to us, and you will be ok with God. C'mon priests you have a higher calling, to save peoples souls not to send them to break the commandments. The word of God is not optional, you do as you are told to do. Amen

This is disgusting, a priest, supposedly a representative of God, telling people it's okay to steal. He should be defrocked.

People have no other way to stay warm, so I suggest everyone who is cold to gather around the church and burn it to the ground!
